Fita Fest 2008

Fita Fest 2008

Clophill Fita Fest 2008 began not on Saturday the 12th of July but way back in 2007, the culmination of nearly a year in the planning reached its conclusion with a competition that surpassed expectation. At Clophill we endeavour to organise a competition that is friendly and challenging, competative and professional; hopefully this year we managed to achieve that.

I could carry on for pages thanking individuals for all their help, but to shorten it I would like to say to everyone who gave of their time and energy, the members of Clophill who were prepared to get up at the crack of dawn to help set up the field, the committee for their help, advice and assistance, the work party for walking the walk time and time again, and all those individuals, especially Dave the scorer, who beavoured away in the background.

Once again the judges were professionalism personified, and I would like to express my thanks to Geoff, Brian, Richard, Mark, Kevin and to Half Pint (Jo) for all their efforts over the weekend.

Also I would like to thank all those archers who came to shoot, because it’s the mix of people, the jokes, the conversation and the willingness to take the archery seriously but not themselves that helps make a weekend memorable.

P.S. The water fight on Sat night ended in a score draw!

Better get cracking on next years comp………..see you all there!
